Hollywood or Bust

Although school has started and I am up to my ears with homework, today was spent on a 60 mile road trip to Hollywood. Armed with guide books and a long list of places to visit, Chad and I made a beeline for Melrose Avenue (not Melrose Place, sorry) and the Melrose Trading Post, a flea market.

I was under the impression that the flea market would be full of amazing tchockes and furniture all for low, low prices. Although this isn't exactly what I found, I can see the potential. Next week there could be something extraordinary and while things aren't really priced cheap, you can bargain. I ended up buying a "Mexican" looking dog mask for half the marked price and was about to buy a chicken bank when suddenly I saw a seafoam green wrought iron bench and matching deck chair.

This was exactly what I was looking for! The only problem was that my car was 2 inches too small to accommodate the bench. I walked away from the flea market one very disappointed girl. Was there any way to salvage the day?

Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n Waffles! I don't know exactly what the appeal of chicken and waffles is but it is a LA institution. I don't think chicken and waffles make a good team, but on their own, each was excellent. After our pitstop, Chad wanted to visit Amoeba, a giant music store near Hollywood Boulevard, several movie studios, Capitol Records, Grauman's Chinese Theater, and the walk of fame. On the way, we saw Spiderman, a Spartan, Batman, 2 Jack Sparrows, 2 Heath Ledgers, and an Elmo. Quite the place for celebrity sightings I guess.

The walk of fame was perhaps the least interesting part of the day. Consequently, it will be the least interesting part of this blog. Of course it is a must-see, but I challenge anyone to be excited about seeing it twice. Oh look, there's Billy Barty's star. Unless you're walking down the walk of fame with Chad, it's difficult to identify most of the stars. Except for those stars that the out-of-work actors were begging on top of. I wanted to go give Joker #1 a piece of my mind for standing on Britney's star, but I was afraid he'd ask me if I wanted to see him make a pencil disappear.

I have always wanted to have chicken and waffles. If we come out to visit, that's on my list. :^)
